On November 26th 2013, Nanaimo’s psychedelic rock heroes Moths & Locusts unveil their monumental debut album, Mission Collapse in the Twin Sun Megaverse. A massive statement from Angus Barter (guitar), Dave Bean (drums, vocals), Mike Breen (guitar) and Dave Read (bass guitar), the album announces Moths & Locusts as one of the most exciting new rock bands in Canada.
Following a 12” EP and two 7” 45s (one split with Victoria band, The New Colors) of exclusive, non-album material released between October 2011 and March 2013, Mission Collapse… is released on the band’s own NoiseAgonyMayhem Records as a gatefold vinyl LP, digital download and CD. The label has also issued acclaimed vinyl only releases by Toronto rock outfit C’mon, Read’s teenage Death Metal band Death Militia, and local pop-punk duo, Bash Brothers.
Presenting super-heavy, riff-driven wig-outs, lush psych-folk, hypnotic instrumental explorations and reflective, dreamy interludes, Mission Collapse… is an impeccably crafted, neo-psychedelic masterpiece in the free-roaming spirit of such as Wooden Shjips or Animal Collective, yet draws on a vast array of influences way beyond the obvious. The hard-gigging Moths & Locusts claim Boris, Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream, Motorhead, Stereolab, Sunn O))), The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Ramones, early Pink Floyd, Krautrock, deep electronica and visceral punk rock as just a tiny fraction of the inspirations channelled into their majestic, emotionally impacting rock music.
Produced by the band, recorded by renowned engineer Jordan Koop of The Noise Floor, and mastered at his Chicago Mastering Service by Shellac’s legendary Bob Weston (Assistant Engineer on Nirvana’s In Utero), Mission Collapse… sounds as big as it is ambitious, and with their fuzz pedals set on ‘stun’ Moths & Locusts are set to blow the minds of psych-rock fans the world over.

This album is one ridiculously massive inundation of relentless, rampaging, punkish, riff-packed psychedelic noise. An acquired taste that tortures your taste buds until its flavour becomes delicious. muschiosauro
